A VICIOUS Scots gang tortured a man and drove hundreds of miles with him in a van before kneecapping and dumping him just yards from a busy supermarket.
The brutal snatch squad abducted their victim, also a Scot, from a house in Barnsley, Yorkshire, before heading to East Kilbride , Lanarkshire, and leaving him for dead.
Detectives yesterday released e fits of three men wanted for the “targeted” shooting on March 13 .
They say it’s unlikely the victim will be able to walk unaided again.
The 45 year old dressed in blue forensic clothes was shot several times in the legs almost two days after the thugs had barged into the house he was staying in, before holding him captive and assaulting him.
He was left bleeding in agony on a grass verge in front of stunned shoppers in the town’s Stewartfield.
A video obtained by the Record showed the aftermath of the horror attack,
with paramedics rushing to save him as he lay on the embankment.
Police, who say the kidnappers travelled south from Scotland before the attack, also revealed they are probing whether the kidnapping is linked to two similar abductions in Scotland this year.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Boyd, who is leading the inquiry, said the gang “must be caught”.
He added: “The individuals have used extreme violence and they have used firearms. They are dangerous people.”
The sadistic thugs snared the victim at a home in the Dodsworth area of Barnsley on Wednesday, March 11.
They forced their way in and tortured him for eight hours. Police said the man had been living in the house “temporarily” and was from Scotland.
The victim was then bundled into a vehicle at 4am on March 12 and driven north, while the gang continued to assault him.
At 12.10pm on March 13, he was shot on the legs at close range and thrown down a grass verge near the junction of Stewartfield Way and Stewartfield Crescent.
He was discovered by shoppers from a nearby Morrisons supermarket while people at a neighbouring block of flats filmed as he was put into an ambulance.
Boyd added: “This shooting was a shocking incident which occurred in broad daylight, yards from a busy town, homes and a supermarket.
“This man was systematically assaulted, threatened and was in fear for his life. He has been left with life changing injuries and may be unable to walk unaided again.
“We’re still piecing together the timeline,
mapping out the full journey which the attackers and the victim took.
